Australian Paper sources 100% of our wood from Victorian suppliers. We are committed to purchasing from sustainably managed sources and require our major wood suppliers to be independently third party certified.
*Based on 2017 data
Australian Paper is chain of custody certified to both Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and Responsible Wood (RW) which is globally endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™).
These certifications highlight our commitment to environmentally responsible, socially acceptable and economically viable practices. Through a rigorous independent auditing process, these schemes verify a product’s journey from its origin through to when it arrives to the end customer and provides assurance that the raw material used originates from sustainably managed forests.
The majority of our plantation wood supply is purchased locally from HVP, one of Australia’s largest private timber plantation companies.
Australian Paper sources managed regrowth wood from the Victorian Government through VicForests. VicForests’ harvesting operations produce a range of products including high value timbers which are processed by local sawmills, and lower grade wood suitable for paper manufacturing. Providing an outlet for the full range of products from these harvesting operations allows as much of each tree to be used as possible and supports Gippsland’s sawmills and timber processing industries.
Australian Paper doesn’t own any forestry operations, and we do not accept any old growth wood in our supply chain.
