Responsible Fibre Sourcing. Sustainable paper.
At Australian Paper we are proud of our performance as a leading
Australian manufacturer, delivering quality locally made products
from sustainably managed, renewable wood resources. Australian
Paper employs more than 1000 people in regional Victoria and is the
largest generator of renewable energy in Victoria.
Sustainable paper making is all about balance; balancing
environmental concerns with the needs of the communities who
support themselves through forestry, right through to the paper
users who rely on paper for many important everyday tasks.
Paper. The real facts.
- Less than 0.1% of Victoria's forests are annually harvested and
then regrown using local seed.
- All areas that meet the scientific criteria for Leadbeater's
Possum habitat are protected from harvesting.
- Australian Paper does not accept any old growth wood.
Period.
- Australian Paper only takes lower grade wood which would
otherwise be left on site or sent overseas as woodchips.
- Almost two thirds of Australian Paper's fibre comes from
plantations and recycled sources.
- Australian Paper is FSCĀ® certified, Australian Forestry
Standard certified and PEFC certified.
Australian Paper has recently announced a strategy that will see
the company significantly increase the amount of plantation fibre
used in its operations. For further information on Australian
