Certifications

The procurement of sustainable paper products should be defined by authentic sustainability criteria that address key issues relating to environmental, social and economic outcomes.

We have a strong commitment to ensuring that our supply chain is proven in its sustainability credentials.  Certification of our raw materials, products and processes provides you with the assurance that Australian Paper products are ethically produced across all facets of production.

Our certifications encompass environmental, safety and quality processes.

Safety and quality certifications

Our Maryvale mill is certified to AS/NZS 4801, assuring our commitment to the safety of all Australian Paper employees, and the onsite laboratory at the mill is NATA accredited for specific analysis of water quality, essential in helping us maintain high testing standards required for our ongoing EPA licence compliance.

In addition, Australian Paper ensures that food contact paper manufactured onsite complies with a range of international standards.

Australian Paper manufacturing sites at Maryvale and Preston are certified to quality management standard ISO 9001.

Environmental Certifications

Our commitment to certified fibre benchmarks strongly against leading paper manufacturers worldwide. Australian Paper is one of the foundation members of FSC® Australia and our Maryvale mill has been FSC® Chain of Custody certified since 2006.

Our Maryvale mill also holds Australian Forestry Standard  (AFS) Chain of Custody certification - the only forestry standard that is recognised by Standards Australia. The AFS is globally endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) - the world’s largest forest certification organisation.

Chain of Custody certification under the AFS means that Australian Paper’s manufactured products can be tracked clearly from the origin of the wood source, through the processing phase to the end product, ensuring confidence in the responsible management of the entire paper manufacturing process.

In addition to fibre certification, many of our products are certified carbon neutral by the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS), and our mill at Maryvale is ISO 14001 certified. Australian Paper products sold in New Zealand carry the Environmental Choice New Zealand certification.
